Education
I am a friendly, caring tutor who believes passionately in supportive learning systems. I believe that every person has a totally different approach to learning. I teach multiple subjects as counterpoints to each other to promote a integrated understanding. I see this as essential in retaining skills and a long-term interest in a subject. My qualifications are... Art Foundation Degree- Manchester Metropolitan University. Art History BA (Hons)- Sussex University. In Art History I specialise in 20th Century Modernism to Post-Modernism, social and philosophical theories of art, gender theory and literary context. However I also have a broad historical and methodological understanding of visual and auditory cultures in general. I write for art journals and small publications and therefore have a good experience of applied critical theory. I am also a practicing artist and musician. I specialise in live audio-visual performances and installations, but have also worked composing music for theatre and soundtracks. I have training in Final Cut-Pro and Ableton Live.
Experience
Primarily I teach Art history and Fine Art. I have helped facilitate multiple creative projects and enabled people to achieve what they desire from Art and it's critical practice. I can cover a specific area of theory, a syllabus and particular texts. I can also proof read, and help with critical writing. I have run experimental music, creative writing and collage workshops. I have also taught Ableton Live and Final Cut Pro. I charge €10 an hour trial fee, after which I charge €15. It's cheap because I believe education is not a one-way street and maybe I will learn from you too!
